Total Maximum Daily Loads

About 60% of Georgia's monitored streams do not meet water quality standards. This means they are not safe to swim, fish or, in some cases, drink. The federal Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) program is a tool developed to help us clean our streams, rivers and lakes.

The Georgia Conservancy's Technical Advisory Group

The Conservancy believes the TMDL program for improving the condition of Georgia's waters is good. Understanding the challenging situation the state and federal agencies face, we have convened several Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) to generally assist in the complex scientific and political challenges associated with TMDL establishment and implementation.
