Each
year, the Georgia
Conservancy celebrates
its work and honors the Distinguished Conservationist of the Year at its
premier gala fundraiser, the Eco-Benefête. Proceeds from the affair
help the Georgia Conservancy further its mission of ensuring Georgians
have clean air, healthy rivers and streams, and protected natural areas
both now and in the future.
The
2006 Eco-Benefête will be held October 28 at the
Westin
Buckhead.
Nationally acclaimed for its model of smart
growth and sustainable living, Atlantic
Station
will receive the Distinguished Conservationist of the Year Award.
The event is co-chaired by Bonnie Harris and Becky
Riley.
In past years, many of Georgia's most prominent figures representing
the business, conservation, government, and social communities
have helped to honor Distinguished Conservationists of the Year,
including Ted Turner, Jimmy Carter, Laura & Rutherford Seydel,
Charles Brewer and Clay Long, for their determined commitment to
our state.
